Visit to the Ethnographic Museum

In connection with our unit of inquiry into How We express ourselves, recently we visited the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb.
Our inquiry into how cultures express and maintain their identity, beliefs and values through customs and crafts led us to see the collection of world cultures' objects and different items from Africa, Australia, Asia and South America.

We also saw traditional Croatian folk costumes from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, as well as festive clothes from China. We rounded our visit with a workshop offered by the museum in which we made a traditional symbol of Zagreb – Licitar Hearts.
They are used as ornaments, often given at celebrations of love, such as weddings or St. Valentine's Day.

As you can see from the photos below, it was a lovely visit.
